HINDU INJURED IN SCUFFLE. By Telegraph—Press Association, DUNEDIN, March 16. In n scuffle that took place m a Castle Street house last evening, a Hindu/ Slier Mahommed, was so badly hurt that he was sent to hospital. unconscious, only coming to this afternoon. Charles James’-Fox, who lived in tlie house with the victim, was arrested, and remanded on' a', charge of causing bodi’y harm. On a further summary charge of resisting the police he ..was fined £4 10s. In a statement in Court, Fox said ho and the Hindu had words, the latter going to the kitchen for a knilo. RAILWAY GUARD FATALLY INJURED. B 7 Telegraph- -Trona Aeioclatlon. ■ HAWERA, March 16. Daniel Nolan, guard, employed on tho Public ' Works Opunake-To. Roti line, while in charge of shunting operations at Matapu, was crushed between two buffers Ho suffered severe injuries to the- right thigh. He was removed to the Hawera. Hospital, and operated on, but died of shock. Deceased was married, 48 years of age, with three children, residing at Stratford.
