BANDSMEN, RALLY ROUND.

To the Editor of tlie “Timara Herald. Sir,—ln reply to Mr La mb s letter appearing in your paper on the 10th j inst., in which he suggests procuring Mr Ricketts as conductor of our local Band, may I say he does nob stop to think that it would be at least eighteen months before lie would commence duties; that is, if he accepted the position. Mr Ricketts is also used to a military band, where every man lis at his bcclc and call. Personally, 1 do not think he would reign live minutes with the men m our local Band as they do not take enough interest to come to practico two nights a week. Mr Lamb also states that the older members of the Band do not wisli to lower the high reputation of the Band Do not forget that if those old and experienced men would rally round our present | conductor a.s Ho deserves that k could play as good a programme as 1 the music-loving people could < esiio. Our present conductor lias kept, tno 1 Band together over since our last conIductor left, which I can say is ] a great I credit to him, as it is most disheartuii ing when there are only 1- to 14 men U the practice.-!
