TIAIARU CLUB. The following is the report -of the comriiitteef of the Timaru Golf -Club, to be submitted to members at tho annual meeting, do bo held at the Timaru Bowling Club’s pavilion, Sarah Street, on Alarcli 25 The working for the year shows a not profit of £125 12s "Bd,' after providing for interest accrued and depreciation. Considering the heavy expenditure for labour, etc,, this result must be considered satisfactory. Eight debentures have boon redeemed during tho year, leaving seven to be paid off. The course has been greatly improved during the year by the straightening of Burnside bunker, tho grading of the Gap approach and tho formation of ai new green at Midway., The greens arid fairways have never been in, better ’ Condition’,’ for which tho Club 'has to | (hank the ground ■ committee and- care- | taker. The committee, with the idea of further improving; the course, | arranged with Messrs J. A. Clements j and G. B. Forrest to furnish a report lon bunkering required, and their) scheme is now under consideration. During the year the Club purchased 2 roods 3 perches adjoining the links on Quarry Road. The Club, having ' decided to build a professional’s house, ' it is being built on part of the new section. G. B. Forrest has given evoiy satisfaction as coach. Tho roll is made up as follows: —17 life members, 7 honorary members, 134 playing members, 28 country members, 8 junior members, and i 8 schoolboy members. Five matches were played during the season, tile match against Waimate resulting iu a tie, and tho matches versus North Otago, Geraldine, Fairlie and Pleasant Point, in wins for Timaru. The tenth annual championship took place on June 3, 84 players taking part. The championship was won by B. V. Wright, with H. E. AVright runner-up. Tlio morning and afternoon handicap matches wero won by E. Ziesler, G. AY. Scott afid C. F. Clarke. '

Wright; Dryden cup—Miss Cotterill and Cottenll; Schoolboys’ challenge cup (Mr T. Scott’s cup)—(>. Barker; "Wright cup Miss E. Pringle and Revell. Mr and Mrs O’Connor have given every satisfaction as caretaker and caterer during the year. .The thanks of the club aro duo to tlie Ladies’ Club for donations of £llO to the club’s funds, and for then* assistance at match teas and luncheons, to Mr Hunter-Weston for his donation, to Messrs Perry, Kinnerney and Finch for legal assistance, and to Mrs A. WWright and Messrs May, Walton, Bruce, Revell and Dr Ussher for trophies, to Major Walter for the gifb of a bridge, and to the sub-committee, consisting of Messrs G. B. Forrest, A L. Marshall, E. A. Scott, T. Scott and E. Ziesler, for report on course.
