Mr E. G. Kerr left Timaru for the north yesterday.

Senior-Sergeant Fahey returned to Timaru yesterday, after a holiday visit to the north.

A motion of appreciation of the services of Dr. L. G. Austin, who has completed his term at the Titriaru Hospital, was passed at yesterday’* meeting of the Board.

The friends of Mr E. L. Anderson, who was for somo time travelling for the Diabolo Separator Co., will regret to hear of a serious accident which befel him a few miles from Melbourne. While motoring in the district, one of the wheels of his car collapsed, and ho was thrown out. Air Anderson received a cut on the head, which severed one of the arteries, and he was removed to a private hospital in a very weak condition for loss .of blood. Air Anderson is now convalescent. Air Frank David Thomson, 8.A., C.AI.G., who has been appointed permanent head of the new Prime Alinister’s Department, has been fotf more than twenty years associated with Prime Alinisters. After taking his degree at Victoria College in 1901, Mr Thomson joined the civil service and later became assistant private secretary to Air Seddon. He was private secretary to the Hon J. A. Millar, and then to Sir Joseph Ward, and when Air Alassey took office Air Thomson became chief private secretary to the Prune Alinister. He has retained, that office ever since, and has proved himself most capable and courteous. He accompanied Air Alassey to all the conferonces which ho attended, abroad.
