Vice-Regal. . The Governor-General paid his first official visit to Greymouth on--Friday. After a formal welcome by a representative deputation in ' tho. morning aboard the Tutanekai, the Vice-Regal party motored to the James -State Colliery, into which the party proceeded, a distance of a mile. Lady iergusson fired two shots, the GovernorGeneral two, and their son one. Tn» party then motored -to Punakaiki, visiting the celebrated blowholes. in tho evening a large crowd gathered at the civic welcomo in the Town Hall. Sir Charles Fergusson, after referring to the promising industrial prospects o the Coast, remarking on its resemblance to "his home country, Ayrshire, paid a tribute to the loyalty of V cst Coasters and New Zealanders generally to the Empire, and also to the pioneeis and men who served in war time. Mark Cohen passed through Timaru on Saturday by express for Dunedin. Mr A. Washer returned to Timaru from Dunedin on Saturday. Mr J. McKoown and Mr R. Dafidson returned by tho same train.
