lIUGEY LEAGUE. The inauguration of Rugby League football ivas advanced another step in South Canterbury during the present week, when Messrs J. Curlaw and E. 11. Main visited Tiniaru. 31 r Carlaw is a retired Auckland business man, and holds the omco of president of tho New Zealand Itugby League Council. 31 r Alain, who has recently sold his interests in Queensland and retired from business, intends settling in New Zealand: Ho is considered one of the authorities of Rugby League/ football in Australia, and as a coach has few equals. During the recent visit of that great combination, the Queensland team, 3!r "Tain chanced to be on a holiday trip to Auckland, and Ids services wore obtained to coach the Now Zealand team for the first test match, with the result, that New Zealand won, the. scores being 25 points to 2-1. Mr Main has been engaged to coach the New Zealand team which visits England during 1920, and that bo may obtain the best material available lie will visit every centre in the early part of next lootball season, lecturing on the game and instructing players.
