The Constantinople correspondent of “The Times” says that the press describes the Mosul verdict us unjust and valueless to Turkey, who must solve the problem herself. “The only redeeming feature of the decision is the fact that it exposes the whole world to the imperialist mentality of Europe,” declares the newspaper “Akclmm,” which demands to know, “how much the Powers voting had been paid for the unjust verdict.” The newspaper “Djumhuriet” nou only attacks the League which it says “ought to be scrapped in favour of a new League based oil real equality ana possessing real authority and ideals,” but says “the whole mandatory system is nothing but a* farce, destined to legitimise tyi-anny, slavery, and usurpation.”

HASTENING RATIFICATION.

Colonel Amery has returned from Geneva, and will .meet Cabinet this morning. The debate is fixed for the House of Commons on Monday, and prorogation on Tuesday. The “Daily Telegraph’s” diplomatic correspondent states that the Government intends to hasten the Iraq treaty, and obtain approval of the respective Parliaments for submission to the March Assembly of the League Council, when the award can be confirmed three months ahead of the time limit.

He explained that the Ministry was confident that the actual -period of the mandate would be far less than 25 years. It involved no responsibility to spend money to keep troops in Iraq for the purpose of keeping order, or against external aggression. The award did not involve a departure from the policy of the last years.
