Indignation lias heou caused at Wagga- by remarks alleged to have been uttered by the New Zealand cricketers on arrival in town. They visited the criekrifc ground, where the captain is said to have made a disparaging remark concerning the ground and wicket. Another member of flic foam is alleged to have said the Board of Control should be censured for sending a team 'ike the New Zealanders to a town like Wagga. During a dinner to tile team. the Mayor referred to the remarks, and compared the artificial wicket* at Wagga to the natural ones in New Zealand. in passing reference to the incident, Mr Patrick, at the dinner, said the team was agreeably surprised at the way the wicket had played, and it was one of the fastest scoring grounds they had played on. Bis team had greatiy enjoyed the visit. Local feeling, which was very high over the “incident” was reflected in incessant Lai-racking throughout the match. UMPIRES FOR TO-MORROW.
