WELLINGTON NOT ENTHUSIASTIC. By Telecraoh—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Dec. 16. ; The proposal lor parties of school 1 children to visit the Dunedin Exhibition is opposed by the Wellington Edui cation Board. The chairman (Mr T. Forsyth, ALP.) stated that' he did not 'think children would be as much impressed with the commercial and industrial exhibits as would .secondary school pupils. He did not' think visits by parties of children distant from Dunedin were warranted. Other members expressed the opinion 1 that the responsibility was too great. The Board decided to indicate that -it did not agree with the proposal. MODEL BRICKWORKS. By Telegraph—Press Association. DUNEDIN, December 16. Yesterday’s attendance was 11,986. In the Prisons’ Department’s stand iu the New Zealand Government pavilion is a working model of the brickworks at Trcntham. it is a. wonderiul contrivance, and the moment it is set in motion crowds gather, and watch fascinated as the prisoners hurry by with their little hand carts, and two men wield tireless pickaxes at a clay hillside. As the clay falls away from their blows, others wheel the material away to the works. It is an accurate reproduction, com- 1 plete with engine rooms, drying sheds, and a kiln holding 140.000 bricks. The output is 15,.000 per day.
