CHRISTMAS IN TIMARU. LOCAL ATTRACTIONS. December in Timaru brings an influx of holiday makers from other parts of New Zealand, and there is no lack of diversion for the visitors. Visitors, as well as South Canterbury people, seem greatly impressed this year by the excellent display made at 222 Stafford Street by England, Mcßae, Ltd. The display embraces hardware, art, pottery and fancy goods suitable for the Christinas gift buying. Of special interest is the fine range of Jacobean ware in vases, bowls, tobacco jars, and ornaments, while antique brass and copper goods also make a fine showing. Stainless cutlery—a specialty of tho Progressive Hardware Store—is prominently exliibited, and most reasonably priced at from 13s 6d per half dozen. Meccano for the boys, pocket knives, cricket bats, tennis rackets, aluminium ware, clocks, stainless carvers, electroplate and Doulton ware, arc only a few of the many seasonable lines on view at the Progressive Hardware Store. ...
