CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.
MEETING OF DIRECTORS. At a meeting of directors of - the South Canterbury Caledonian Society, held in the Oxrord Buildings, there were present:—Mr P. Campbell (president), Messrs' S. R. Burns, P. O’Connor, D. Sinclair, A. McKay, D. Donaldson, J. Hole, A. McCullough, A. J. Munro, W. D. Hume, W. Young, W. A. Courtis, R. A. Rodgers, W- H. Hall and J. O'Leary. A letter was received from. The Timaru Borough Council in regard tp the water main in South Street. The Council were laying mains round the out streets of the town, and South Street was included in one of the streets to be done.
The Timaru Borough Council .further advised that the borough engineer had been instructed to give the burning of refuse at the rubbish tip improved supervision. A letter was received from the Mairchau Cycling Club, asking for the use of . the Caledonian Grounds on Christmas Day,- to - run’ a- cycling meeting. After due consideration, it was decided that the Society were not disposed to allow the use of the grounds on Christmas Day, as it was against the principles of the Society to allow a sports meeting on that day, but they were prepared to allow the use of the grounds after New Year. It was decided that the Battalion Band be negaged, at £ls, and the Pipe Band at £l2, for both days of the sports. It was further decided that the Band be engaged, at £ls, and the Pipe 10 a.m., and ,play ..to . the grounds, stopping en route though the town. A procession is to fall in at Oxford Buildings, .Mr ’S. R. Burns to be in charge. The following officials were appointed for the sports .—Referee, Mr P: Campbell; starter, Mr J. O’Leary; running and cycling stewards,. Messrs P. O’Connor, *A. Hansen and J. Kennedy; music and dancing, Mrs 'A. F. Boys, Messrs S. R. Burns, D. Sinclair, and A. J. Munro; press, Messrs J. Hole, I. J. Bradley. E. Hall and W. E. - Kinnerney; clerks of course and marksmen, Messrs D. Donaldson. W. 1). Hume. 11. Morgan, A. McCullough, W. J. Moore and E. Mcßae; time-keepers, Messrs W. S Young, C. Hind. J. Little, A. Horwcll and E, Perkins; protest committee, Messrs P. Campbell. W. H. Hall. W. A. Courtis, A. Wilson and A. .T. Munro; handicappcrs, Messrs J. Waldie and G.
