A disastrous fire broke out at tho Spiral Hotel, Raurimu, 26 miles, south of Taiinia.runui, at 4 p.m. Assisted by a. breeze, the firo rapidly spread, completely gutting the business portion of the main street. -In all nine business premises were completely destroyed." The damago is roughly estimated at £20,000. Information is meagre, through telephonic communication being cut off. The premises'- ■ destroyed. . included the Railway Hotel, tho Spiral Hotel, Merrikan’s store, Hudson’s store, the bakery, Raram’s stoic, and Smith s. The Post Office was threatened, but was reported to be out of danger at 8 p.m.
