An international train was caught in the battle at Yangtsuu. The passengeits, including women and chiiuien, had to take refuge under the carriages. Nine Dritislier.s, including Colonel and Mrs llasieliurst, 20 Americans, and prominent Japanese, and also four League of Nations Commissioners, who are visiting Manchuria in connection with plague prevention, were on the train.
it appears that General Kuo-min-Chun’s armoured train followed the international train to Yangt-sun, where it , landed 1000 infantry and artillery, which began shelling General Liching Lin’s forces across the river.
The Legations vigorously protested against the breach of the Boxer Protocol.
It is understood that arrangements are being made to despatch a relief train from Tientsin.
The Japanese include Mr Mochizuki, leader of the Kensejai Party, and Mr Inouye, Parliamentary Under-Secretary for the Navy.
