Dr. G. M. Gunn left Timaru yesterday for Christchurch. Mr J. Cleland and Mr P. R. Talbot left Timaru for Ashburton yesterday. Air P. W. Rule left Timaru yesterday by the first north-bound express. Sir Truby King passed through Timaru yesterday by express for the north. A cable message from Sydney reports that Mr Herbert Matthews (secretary of the Central Chamber of Commerce, England) is a passenger by the Orama eo route to New Zealand. Lieut-Colonel Parker, a nephew of Lord Kitchener, arrived in Sydney en route to New Zealand., He was formerly in the Egyptian Frontier Administration Department.

Lane (Ashburton.) Mi- D. Moore left Timaru yesterday for Dunedin where he wilj represent the Massey Harris Company in the Canadian Court at the Exhibition. Mr 1. H. Tail, a prominent membei of the Timaru High School Old Boys' Association, who will shortly take up residence in Gisborne, was met last evening by his fellow members and presented with a handsome leather suit case. The presentation Was made by the president of the Association, Mr S. D. Mason, who. referred in eulogistic terms to the - keen interest Mr Tait had always taken in the affairs of the Association. Other speakers .were Messrs W. D. Revell, N. A. Moore, G. P. Lawson, and A. N. Leslie, who wished him every success in his new position. Mr Tait briefly returned thanks.
