TECHNICAL COLLEGE.

SPORTS. A visit was paid yesterday by 'about 60 pupils (accompanied by Mr Thompson, director, and several members of the staff) of the Ashburton Technical School, for the purpose of the annual school matches in football and basket ball with the Timaru School. The football game was fairly fast and even, resulting in a win for Ashburton by 9to 7. The referee was Mr P. Tutty. In the basket ball matches, the results were as followsA. team, Timaru 16, Ashburton 8; B. team, Timaru 18, Ashburton 23; C. team, Timaru 8. Ashburton 10. Afternoon tea was provided by the school girls, and was greatly appreciated. Mr Possey, the Timaru director, cordially welcomed the visitors from a sist&r institution, and complimented them on their play in general, and Mr Thompson returned thanks on behalf of Ashburton. Hearty cheers were given by each school, and special cheers for the girls for the dainty repast provided. ________
