DISCUSSED BY SHEEPOWNERS’ UNION. At a meeting of the Executive of thu Canterbury bheepowners’ Union in Christchurch (.Mr E. 11. Guinness presiding! a letter was received from Mr A. F. Roberts, New Zealand Exhibition Commissioner at Wembley, who gave particulars regarding the new allwool type of woolpack which is being introduced by Bradford manufacturers, and stating that the British W'ooi Federation at a general meeting, had unanimously agreed to the following resolution:—“That we make an oner to woolgrowers of Australia, Now Zettland, and South Africa, that in the conditions of sale id per lb. extra shall be charged for all wool packed in a, wool tare approved by a committee ot growers, brokers and buyers, mid we guarantee this arrangement for five years.” Tlio Commissioner stated that it was the intention to have the pack thoroughly tried beforo attempting to introduce it commercially, and ments had been mado for 25 sample packs to bo sent to New Zealand lor trial purposes. As soon as tho packs were available, they would bo sent forward to the Department of Industries and Commerce so that tho necessary trials could be mauc. It was thought possible that these packs might be manufactured in New Zealand or the country producing the wool to be shipped. The wool used in making tho sample pack was from twelve to fourteen inches long, collected from various sources, and it was essential that the yarn should pass a ceitain test and be free from chemicals and grey hairs to meet tho requirements of the trade. . A fear was expressed that the cost of such packs would be prohibitive, ana tho secretary was instructed to keep in touch with the Department of Industries and Commerce with a view to giving tho sample pack an exhaustive test. _
