Mr J. G. Gow returned to Timaru from Christchurch on Saturday. Sir Heaton Rhodes (Minister of DefenceT passed through Timaru on Saturday, for .Dunedin. Mr W. D. Campbell and Mr A. E, Laurence returned to Timaru from Wellington on Saturday. Mr E. J. Rolleston, M.P., and Mr T. D. Burnett, M.P., returned to Timaru from ’Wellington on Saturday. Mr J. Bitchcner, M.P., passed through Timaru on Saturday on his re- * turn from Wellington to his homo at Hook.

Mr T. K. Sidey, Mr P. A. de la Perrollo and Mr J. Horn, M.P.’a, were passengers by Saturday’s express for the south. Revs. K. Andrews-Baxter. G. V. Gerard, and E. Osmers, of St. Mary’s parish, will leave to-day to attend a special session of the Anglican Synod at Christchurch.

A cable message from Tokio announces that Mr Tokugawa, eldest son of Prince Tokugawa, formerly Councillor at the Japanese Embassy at London, has been appointed ConsulGeneral at Sydney. A cable message from London states that Captain T. Watson, representing the Church Duplex Movement, will sail for Australia and New Zealand on January 29, 192 G, addressing Synods upon methods of raising money foe parochial and diocesan purposes. Mr J. Maze, having declined nomination for a seat on the Timaru High School Board of Governors, as representative for a further term, of the Canterbury Education Board, Mr J. G. Gow has been elected to represent that body on the Board named.
