REVISING THE SCHEDULE, The various sub-committees of the Timaru Agricultural and Pastoral Association nave been at work lately revising tho schedule for tho next show of tho Timaru A. and P. Association, ,and a committee of tho whole has now adopted a prize schedule, which differs from tho schedule of last year in tho following particulars:—■ Sheep.—Strong and lino combings aro to be separate classes, and ewe undor thirty mouths, with lamb at foot, is to be deleted. Ram above sixtoon months, shorn since October 1, is to read: ,“Ram between sixteen and thirty months, shorn.” In the class for breeding sheep there has been added a new class for throe g-bred owe hoggets, with lambs at foot. In the class for fat sheep, where 200 acres is specified, this has been altered to read 300 acres, and in the class where 1601 b. was named as tho maximum live weight, this has been altered to 1651 b.

Cattle.—The judging of cattle is to commence at 10 a.m. on the first day of the, show, all milch cows to be .judged first. To the conditions attaching to the winning of the miniature cups for championships there'have been added the words: “but these awards will not be made unless there are two first prize takers in the bull classes, and three in the cow classes.” Beef and milking Shorthorns will not be allowed to compete in the same class. A new class has been added, to the Jersey section for group of .four—a, cow, not under four years of age; a heifer, three years’ old; a .two-yeaivold, and a yearling' —all to be the property of the exhibitor. The class for dry heifer, two years old, has been altered. The contest for the Jersey Futurity stakes will be open to all pedigree Jersey heifers in the South Island, born after July 1, 1924, these to contribute n separate class at the show. The heifers are to he judged on type and production at the Timaru A. and P. Show in 1927. Fifty points will be awarded for type, and fifty for production, the points to be allocated as follows: —One point for every lOlbs, or part thereof, of butter for the first lOOlbs over C.O.R. requirements; one point for every 61bs, or part thereof of butter-fat from tho first lOOlbs over C.0.R., until the maximum is reached*. Heifers to be judged by the judge appointed for the, show of 1927. A miniature cup.j (value £5 ss) will be given to the breeder of the winning heifer, provided the heifer was bred m New Zealand, and a miniature cup (value £5 os) will be given to the winner, and inscribed: “South Canterbury Jersey Cattlo Futurity Stakes, 1927.” The first charge against the fund will be the twp cups, and the balance will be divided and added to the prize money of the Timaru Agricultural and Pastoral Association.

Draught horses.—‘The class for entire colt, four years old, has been deleted. The class for gelding will be for a iour-year-old, or over, and the class lor maiden filly been altered to read for three-year-old mare, not a prize-taker at any previous show. The Clydesdale Horse Society’s medal will be for colts this year. Harness horses.—The class for single harness horse up to 15.2 to bo driven in a four-wheeled vehicle, has been deleted, and also the class for milk cart turn-outs.

Thoroughbred horses.—ln the class for stallion, the first prize will bo £5, and the second £2 2s. There will bo a new class for gelding or filly throo years old. Saddle horses.—Mr W. H. Orbell will give £2 2s to the breeder of the most prize takers. Army horses.—This heading has been deleted, and tho class will be included under saddle horses. The class for mare or gelding suitable for field artillery has been cut out. Pigs.—Those classes have been altered to read: “Boar over fourteen months, boar under eight months, sow under fourteen months, boar under fourteen months, sow over fourteen months.” Farm produce.—The display of fancy butter has been deleted. In the clas3 for adults’ cookery (nut loaf, homemade) the words “without yeast” hgve been added. Competitions. —There will be a competition for young farmers, > in tho judging of farm produce—grain, roots, seeds, etc. There will also be a competition for the best walking hack, pacers and amblers not being eligible to compete.
