The German delegates at the International Women’s Council absented themselves from the annual Mother's Day ceremonies, at Aldington Cemetery, at which Lady Aberdeen spoke for the attending foreign delegations. The Germans iater explained that it would be inappropriate for them to attend, in view of the presence of the United States Navy and Army officers. They would have joined under other circumstances.
