BIG FEATURES ANNOUNCED. A further, announcement is made by Paramount Pictures in regard to the next group) of features to be released in New Zealand at pn early date. It will be interesting to recaii a number of recent screen successes that have been released by Paramount. “The Ten Commandments,” it ia claimed, fras been received by the public of New Zealand with an enthusiasm that has not been rivalled by any entertainments brought to this country. Other pictures include “Monsieur Beaucairo,” which brought Rudolph Valentino back to the screen after an absence of two years, also, Zane Grey’s “Wanderer of the Wasteland,” Feet of Clay,” and others. In the very near future there will be released Cecil B. De Millo’s “The Golden Bed,” “The Garden of Weeds,” with Betty Compson, “Merton of the- Movies” (from tho novel of the same name), “Forbidden Paradise,” with Pola Negri, “Tongues of Flame, . with Thomas Meighan. A definite schedule.-of production was set down by Paramount at the beginning' of this year, and it_ is being adhered to so closely that it is almost possible to name the big pictures for 1926, and the following have been completed, or are in the course of production: —“Madame Sans Gene, with Gloria Swanson,” “Sackcloth and Scarlet,” from George Gibbs novel, Zaire Grey’s “The Thundering Herd, “Modern Babylon,” with Leatrice Joy, Zane Grey’s “The Light of Western Stars,” “The Cost of Folly,” with Gloria Swanson, “Poter Pan, With Betty Bronson, from James M. Barne s immortal play, and many others. Among the stars who have _ allied themselves with Paramount will be featured prominontiy: Lorn Wilson, Gloria Swanson, Thomas Meighan, Bebe Daniels, Theodore Roberts, Leatrice Joy, Ricardo Cortez, and Rod La Rocque. A recent announcement has been made stating th,at Sid Chaplin and Douglas McLean have also joined the Paramount fold. D. W. Griifith sis now a Paramount producor. He has part comploted Marie Corollas ahe Sorrows of Satan. 1 ” Paramount has in its field a numbor of notables not directly connected with the movie picture. These include such, names as James M- Barrio, Zone Grey, George Gibb 3, David Belasco, Rafael babatnn, Jeffrey Farnol, and George Ade. It is understood that the next big production to he released by this organisation will be. tho Metro special “Scaramouohe,” which has been produced bv Rex Ingram from the story bv Rafael' Sabatini. In .all probability most of the above pictures will, in due course, he screened at the Grand Theatre, Timaru.
