BOXING.
TIMARU ASSOCIATION. > At a meeting of tne general committee of the limani Boxing Association there were present—Messrs A: N: Oakey (chairman), J. King, W: A. Scott, H. Tiplady, R. Heron, L. Dewar, T. Segar, A; M; McCullough, H: W; Hall; K. L; Shillito junr., C. Campbell; and J: V. McKeague (secretary); ’ The chairman referred to the death of Mr F: C/ Watson, who had beenlooked on'as the father of boxing in South Canterbury.- It was mainly as a result of hi 3 energy and enthusiasm that boxing had been so firmly established here. His death was. a big loss’, to-the game. A vote of sympathy was /parsed with Mrs Watson, all members standing. The secretary said a letter had been forwarded to Mrs Watson; also a floral wreath. It was decided that a permanent (artificial; wreath be placed on Mr Watson’s grave. The secretary reoortod- that a rough' estimate showed that there would be a loss- of £7O or £BO on the .Purdy--Gunn contest; a detailed' statement - will be presented tojthe next meeting. It was decided that the date for the Parkor-McDonald contest be Tbursday, June’ 25. / Thirty-two new members were, elected. # -■ ' Accounts amounting to £l4 2s 4d were' passed for payment.
