TO THE ELECTORS OP THE BOROUGH OP TIMARU. T ADIES AND GENTLEMEN, — . L -‘ <D— I am a Candidate and have the honour of being nominated for one of the seats on the South Canterbury Power Board. Such ,being the position, I may say that my views in connection with the supply of electric power for South Canterbury and Timaru requirements are . the same as when I introduced this subject mazier some years ago, chat Soutji Canterbury be declared an i electric power district, and the development of Tekapo'. Therefore, as I have explained my 'views' in con-nection-with the above, frohnseveral, platforms throughout - South terbury and .Timaru, ( and to the Min-: ister of Public Works, and through; the Press, then I submit, Ladies and; Gentlemen, there is no need for further, explanation from me on, this important matter at the present time: 1 (2)— ' If you.jdo me v the honour ,by returning me as one of your represen■t.a fives on the South Canterbury Power Board, I will in return do, all in my power in conjunction with the other members of the Board, to obtain 'the heeded supply of electric, power for South Canterbury’s ’ and Timaru’s requirements and also havethe possibilities of Tekapo investigated as soon as possible, and the whole position as to costs of power station, '..equipment, transmission lines and reticulation placed before the ratepayers of South Canterbury and Timaru; without further delay for their approval or otherwise. Yours faithfully, 4 . i ' ■ -W. ANGLAND. ■1 ■ SOUTH CANTERBURY HOSPITAL BOARD. 'T’HE SOUTH CANTERBURY DIVI-, 1 SION of the British Medical Association wishes the Electors of Timaru to know that paragraph No. 1 in Rev.—T. W. Potts’s election nja'hifesto is misleading. Mr Potts seems still to be under the impression that the abolition of Honorary Staffs means the adoption of the ope-man' -system which) exists in Timaru. Nothing could be further, 'from the truth. The only change recommended by the Conference is that whereas in the past part time staffs have done their work for nothing, in the .future they are to ,be paid. Engaging certain paid specialists : (if any can be got) will not cure the inherent evil of the one-man system,, which is the absence fective criticism or check on the work. , ■ ' ’ Until there is a paid visiting staff’ working in co-operation- with the paid resident ; staff, :not only .in spe? cial work, hut-also In the ordinary medical and surgical treatment bf patients, you J will not -get- the best results.' ■’ Signed, oil behalf of the B.M:A. S.C. ■ Division: -t; <- G. H. USSHER, * ; > President, v SOUTH CANTERBURY HOSPITAL DISTRICT. TO THE ELECTORS OF TIMARU. | ADIE? AND GENTLEMEN,- . Having been a member of the Hospital Board for the past two years, I am again standing for election. If elected, it will be my endeavour, as during the past, first, to' work for the highest efficiency of the hospital;' second, to keep in view the primary object of the hospital’s existence, viz., to provide urst and foremost, for those whose financial position does not enable them to procure full medical assistance. 1 strongly hold that th%fees charged for maternity work are, too high, and that the maximum should be 3 guineas per week instead of 4 guineas as at .present. Thirdly, to cepresent' on the Board the t women's side in all the many questions which confront them. Yours faithfully, ' PHYLLIS 'A. F. UNWIN. April 27th, 1925.

, . POWER BOARD ELECTION. THE TDIAftU RATEPAYERS. • '"TWO years ago you joined the Tower Board Area in the belief that A Tekapo would be investigated without delay and that if satisfactory it would be developed by the Power Board to supply South Canterbury. Nothing has been done. To-day matters are at a standstill, and are likely to remain so unless the representation for Timaru on tho Power Board is aliered. ’ The cpportdnity to change it for the better will, occur next Wednesday. * ' At the Power Board’s Loan Poll you rejected its proposals because they did not include the investigation of Tekapo. Your vote on that occasion was decisive. Follow itup on Wednesday by electing three Candidates who have promised to vigorously proceed with the investigation of Tekapo. If you elect the Tekapo League’s Candidates satisfactory progress will be made forthwith. The League’s Nominees are:— < GEO. J. TV ALLACE, ESQ., MAYOR OP TIMARU. TV.
