Ir, however, experience shows that some lengthening is advisable, the institute Favours waiting until after August, on account of lighting and heating The holding of schools on Saturday is not recommended on account of the inconven.ence to parents and interference w-th games., One suggestion is to reduce the arithmetic syllabus from five hours to three which would enable most losses to be made good. The pronciency examinations will not be prejudiced, as the tendency is to accept tlie headmasters' recommendations.
bne Institute, on the whole, considers teachers must be. relied on to do what is necessary to meet the situation, and tiiei' had better not be hampered by detailed instructions.
