A meeting oC the general committee of the Temuka and Geraldine A. and 'R. Association was held yesterday afternoon. Present: Messrs D. i 11. Paterson (president), R. B. Williams, ‘A. 13. Mclntosh. A. G. Macj donald, G. W. Armitage, M. 11. Mc- ! Leod, A. Bain, W. F. Evans. L. .1. ■ Grant, J. Wordsworth, I-I. Hutchison, L. A. Nicholas, It. J. Edgar, J. F. Hayhurst, J. C. Bisdee. and the secretary (J. Kennedy). Apologies were received from Messrs F. Charles, J. Paterson,. G. Ward and F. Tarbotton. The president referred to the passing away of the late Mr It. Edgar, a very old and respected settler, and also of the late Mrs Evans, mother of- the former secretary of the Association. He moved that a vote of sympathy be recorded to the relatives of the deceased. The motion was passed, all members standing in respectful silence. Mr Evans, on behalf of his sisters and brother, thanked the members for their mark of respect for his mother’s memory. The Timarn Association wrote regarding the proposed demonstration farm for South Canterbury, - that after the deputation from Temuka had left the meeting a sub-commit-tee, consisting of Messrs C. L. Orbeli, J. E. P. Cameron and D. Grant had been appointed to confer with the Mackenzie and Temuka and Geral- ! dine Associations regarding the - matter. ' . The president detailed the deputation’s visit to the Timaru Association, and said that the general feeling was in favour of the proposal. It remained for the Temuka Association to elect delegates for the Confei - .- ■ 6U Tile president, and Messrs Evans and Edgar were appointed as delegates, and the fixing of the date was left to the president. I A circular letter was received from the Showmen’s Association detailing the aims and objects of the Association and asking for co-operation in all matters which arose between the Associations. , Mr McLeod pointed out that it had ahvays been the practice that if any side show was genuine it was always given a sympathetic hearing. The president reported thgt he had attended a meeting in Christchurch i last week of representatives of the i South Island A. and P. Associations, regarding the federation of all the Associations. After discussion it : was agreed that such a-scheme be ; adopted, and a committee was ap- j pointed to draft a set of rules. The president, secretary and : Messrs Armitage and Evans were appointed a committee to confer with the Winchester Domain Board regarding the lease of the Show Grounds at ‘Winchester. SHOW SCHEDULE. The president stated that Mr Lundy, of Ashburton, had suggested ! that pony tandem teams be allowed , to compete amongst the horses. He | had also offered a prize oE one guinea ; for the best pony, turnout under 14 . hands, and had promised two entries . in the tiuulem class. I It was agreed to add this class to the schedule, and Mr Lundy was accorded a vote of thanks for his kindness. ~ X , Mr W. F. Evans saul that he thought that the conditions governing the .champion cups in sheep, cattle and draught horse class, were too drastic, and he tabled a. notice of motion that they be revised. Schedule committees -were appointed as follows: —Sheep: Messrs McLeod, Nicholas, Tarbotton and Bain. Cattle: Messrs Fletcher, Hutchison, Edgar and Maddren. Draught horses. Messrs Ward, Bisdee and Charles. Horses, Ponies, etc.: Messrs Macdonald, Charles, Dixon, and J. Paterson. Dogs: Messrs Nicholas and Hutchison. Pigs: Messrs Macintosh and Haylnirst. Fruit and Vegetables: Messrs Shaw and Wordsworth. Mis- t eellaneous: Messrs Evans, Armitage, and Maddren. Grain and Seeds: Messrs Pye, Gr&iit aiul the presidenL. j Potatoes and Roots: Messrs Williams, Fletcher and Ward. The following new members were elected: Messrs J. B. Stewart, W. Taylor, T. J. Paterson, G. R. Hammond, R. Gould, W. Kain, W. Cotterill, and Captain Kerr.
