John Brass, aged 15 years, was drowned in the estuary on Sunday. Bathing with two others, he got beyond his depth. Another youth narrowly escaped, being rescued after a ’.struggle, by Stanley Porter. Neither boy could swim.

MOTOR-CYCLE ACCIDENT. By Telegraph—Press Association. ' GORE, November 17. Edwin Spiden ,a single man, 20 years of age, employed at the Pukerau Dairy Factory, was thrown from a motor- cycle through his coat becoming entangled in a wheel. He now lies ni the Gore hospital in an unconscious state with a fractured skull LAD BREAKS AN ARM, A lad named Jack Cremin "had the misfortune To-fall from a tree in Kuottingly Bark, AVaim,ate, on Sunday, and sustained a.. broken arm. lie was conveyed to theipublic hospital, where he is progressing satisfactorily. SHOOTING ACCIDENTS. There were two shooting accidents in South Canterbury during the weekend— one in Tinipru and the otliey , ;at the Opihi River. LITTLE GIRL'SHOT. At the Opihi river a little girl, about five years of age, daughter of Mr C. Porter, of Timarh, was playing oh the anglers’ reserve, when anothor child, a little hoy, looking at two rifles which "eie strapped to a bicycle, .‘(one 'of them loaded) suddenly decided to pull the trigger of the ,loaded rifle. The result was .‘ ap explosion and the bullet struck the little girl in the calf of one of her legs, ajid came out at the knee. •First aid was v promptly rendered, after which the ihjured child was brought into Timaru,. where she was attended by a medical man. The wound bled profusely.

Eaton being removed to Nurse Lyall’s hospital, AVai-iti road, where the bullet was located with the aid of the Arrays, but efforts to recover it proved futile.
