TIMARU GUN CLUB.
SHOOT ON SATURDAY. Favoured with ideal shooting weather the above Club held a shoot at Saltwater Creek, which provided one of the most interesting and enjoyable meetings held this season. Commencing at 2 o’clock sharp a 5-bird clay handicap sweepstake drew 15 competitors. Three of these—W. J. McCulloch, P. McDonald, and R. E. Mcllwrick—broke all their birds, and divided the prize-money. The main match of the day, a 10clay bird handicap for the president’s trophy, and carrying nominations fo-r the Club’s Challenge Cup, was the next event on the programme. R. E. Mcllwrick and W. J. McCulloch again broke all their birds, the subsequent shoot-off being won by Mr Mcllwrick, who thus took both trophy and cup, Mr McCulloch taking second money.
The next event, a 7-clay bird j sweepstake, was divided by W. R. Grant and J. Little, who broke all their birds, and a concluding' “first miss out” was won by J. Brown,'on j the seventh bird. j An invitation was received from enthusiasts at Pareora to hold, a : match there at an early date, and the Club has arranged to do so on Thursday next. Particulars will be advertised in the “Timaru Herald.”
