VIOLENT ’QUAKE.
WHAT THE RECORDS SHOW. Cable—Press Association —Copyright. (Received 5.5 p.m., June 29.) MELBOURNE, June 28. An examination of the seismograph records, confirms the centre of earthquake as a little south of Macquarrie Islands. It is stated that the motion recorded is considerably greater than in the case of tho Japanese ’quake. A telegram from Townsville states that the Singapore radio station 19 broadcasting a message that the steamer Tordla, reported . having observed thick muddy water, probably the result of a volcanic eruption in the South China Sea.
