Baroness Deslandes recited part of a poem in the lions’ cage at Neuilly fair for the benefit of charity. When the lions became restive, the tamer urged her to cut the recitation short. The Baroness hastily backed out. Madame Elfremova sang while lying on a divan in the tigers’ cage. Others sang and danced in the cages before the fashionable audience. r i
