With its immense weight the tiling gathered way quickly and it it-clashed oft’ down the inclnie. Standing against the wall at the roadside was a motor car. Straight for die car, the' stone crusher headed, and dashing into it, pushed it through tho wall. Fortunately there was no one in the motor car at the time, or there would have been a fatal accident. As it- was, the car was much damaged. The stone crusher came to a stop just before it went through the wall itself.

In discussing with. a Wanganui j “Chronicle” representative the advant- | ages of shelter trees on farms, a local stock inspector stated that they had the effect of increasing production and j getting better results from tho stock | generally. There had not been a great deal of' planting for shelter in the surrounding district of 'Wanganui in recent years, and most of tho shelter was provided by scrub and gorse. . In conclusion, he pointed out that pinus insiuiub. or some similar fast-growing soft woods that would eventually turn out good timber, made the most suitable hedge.
