GERALDINE.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) For some time past the cx-pupils ol tho Geraldine District High School (Secondary department), have considered the forming of a social club, with the idea of renewing friendships formed at school and keeping an interest in the “old” school. Aliss Earnie called a meeting, which was held in the Parish Hall.. At the meeting, which took the form of a social evening followed by a business meeting, some forty cxpupils were present, if the enthusiasm shown at the first meeting is to bo taken for anything, the future of the club looks bright. It was decided that meantime the club meet as a social club in the Oddfellows’ Hall on the last AVednesday in every month (except when otherwise advertised). Now the club has been formed, it is hoped that all ex-pupils will take an interest. If those ex-pupils who were not at the meeting, and are desirous ; of joining the club, will hand their names to'either of tho secretaries (Aliss Henry and H. AV. AVilliamson), they will p;reatly assist. The Geraldine AV.E.A. literature class met in Air Kennedy’s rooms last week, the subject being “The Life Personality and Poetry of Rupert Brooke” when the lecturer (Miss D. C. Earnie), dealt fully with this lovable man and poet. His personality was disclosed through his own letters, and those of his friends, and it was pointed out how throughout the poems much autobiopraphv had crept unconsciously into his work. On AVednesday, Aliss Earnie will take “Robert Louis Stevenson and His Poetry,” and poems of several living poets will bo read also.
