INCREASED PENSIONS.

The House of Commons carried the financial resolution, on which the Government bases the Bill-amend-ing the old age pensions, abolishing the restrictions under which limited private means, due to thrift, disqualifies persons otherwise eligible. Hie Bill provides that a person oyer 70 years, with an income of 25s weekly is eligible for the.full pension of 10s weekly, provided at -least 15s of the 25s is derived from unearned sources. A married couple, having a joint income of 50s weekly are eligible for a pension of 20s. The Chancellor (Mr Snowden), said lie hoped shortly to submit a scheme for pensioning widows, especially widowed mothers, and reduce the age limit to 65 years also
