FAIRLIE BRANCH. The annual meeting of the Fairlie Braneii or cue I'liumet Society was neiu in tiie jrresuy tenan schoolroom on I nurstu.y. lucre .vas a ;air attendance, but owing to tne inclemency ot tne weatner, several meniuers were unable to attend. Uiny seven meeting had been held during tne year, owing to the illness of the secretary (Mrs A. Gillingham), and the absence of the resident during the months of March April, and May. 'Hie balance sheet was read by -Mrs O. Hope (president), and .showed receipts amounting to £323 9s 3d, expenditure £'l9s 17s sd, leaving a credit balance of £127 11s lOd. Mrs Talbot moved the adoption of the balance sheet. The annual report and nurses’ report were then read. The Fairlio branch had had a resident nurse appointed by the Central Council since last annual meeting, and the Plunket room was opened on August 20tli. with Nurse Johnstone in charge. Visits paid to office sinco then totalled 8-15 (45/ adults and 388 babies), and 169 visits had been paid to homes. The nurse had paid 14 visits to Alburv and. Mt. Nessing. The Fairlie branch felt justified in having worked for the appointment of a residential nurse, fifty pei cent, of the babies born in the district were now under the nurse’s supervision, and a large connection was gradually being worked up. Thanks were extended to Mr T. D. Burnett lor lus generous donation of £2O; the Mackenzie County Council for their annual grant of £10; a dance committee m Albury for handing over the proceeds of a cinderella dance ; the management of the Presbyterian Church lor the use of their school room lor all meetings, and ail those who have helped in various ways during the year. Special thanks were due to Mr Hammond lor kindly' making out balance sheet, and auditing the books. The Society was losing a very efficient secretary and treasurer m Mrs A. Gillingham, who has been forced to lesign owing to illness, and. a. hearty vote of thanks and appreciation was accorded her by the committee toi licr two years’ term of office. Mrs A. Irving was elected secretary and treasurer for the forthcoming “Tli-s Hope was i«-elected president, with Mrs Talbot and Mrs Brown (Albury r ) vice-presidents. Several .new members were elected to the committee to replace those who, living at too great a distance, wore unable to attend meetings. It was decided to hold meetings the first Wednesday in each month, at the residence of the president during the winter months.
