Essex made 251 (Perrin 87) against Middlesex. Yorkshire, 343 for three wickets, declared (Sutcliffe 160), against Sussex 125. Macaulay took 5 for 60. Notts 489 against Kent 162 (Hard inge 53). Matthews took 5 for 47. Sandhurst made 357 for 7 wickets declared (Robinson 143, Dunolly. 113), against Woolwich 177 and 199 (Hudson 71, Grove, not out, 150). Grinstone took 4 for 24. Playing for Lancashire against Leicester, Parkin took 9 for 31, completing his hundred wickets for the season. Lowry plaving for Cambridge made 133.
