At the .Magistrate's Court to-day, Alfred William Grimmer, a butcher, was convicted of making false income tax returns for four years. He was lined a total of £2OO and costs. The Magistrate said defendant’s profit for four years amounted to £ 10.000. but lie bad stated in the income tax return, that it was £6BOO, therefore it followed that for tho period of four years, defendant had defrauded the country of a considerable amount of revenue.
