A school mistress at Waikohu, Ivy Bell Carr, is suing Lionel Clare, coal and shipping merchant, for £SOOO damages. The statement of claim alleges that Clare tricked Carr into visiting his home, gave her drink which rendereed her uneon,sciou< and had sexual intercourse with her, as a result of which her health was' seriously affected, as she was at the time in a weak state, having le eentlv been in hospital.
