LABOUR DEMANDS POSITION. By Cable —Press Association —Copyright. LONDON, June 22. The “Daily Mail” states that a prominent Socialist has been ottered the Governorship of Tasmania. He is taking a few days to consider if be possesses sufficient means to entertain. The Government desires to fill such position with Labourites. The “Daily Mail” adds that difficulty is being experienced in finding a successor to Lord Jollicoe acceptable to the New Zealand Government, which desires another admiral, but the Labour ranks do not include an admiral. It is suggested that Lord Wemyss should be appointed.
