DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL. The Board of governors of the Wainmto District High School met, on Wednesday night;-'- Present —Messrs. b. I. Fitch (chairman), H. M. Whatman, J. E. Hutchinson JJ. A., Fulton, G. J. Snackleton, W.' Stewart and G. W. Collett.

Lindsay. , ' T _ , The Waimate branch of the W.E.A. wrote inviting the Board to become affiliated and to appoint a representative. In reply to a suggestion from the sports master (Mr L. J. RECTOR’S REPORT. The Rector (Mr L. F. Pegler) reported that the roll number at present was 104 (50 boys, and 54 girls). The average attendance for the first quarter ,waa 98, and for the second (to June 13thj was 93.6. The utmost regularity must be insisted on in order to obtain for the whole year, an average of 91 to ensure an additional teacher being added to the staff. The Education Department’s inspectors (Messrs Robertson and Lnyskey, of the Otago Education Board) paid a visit on May 26th and 28th, and reported, favourably. Much interest is, this year, being taken in the school sports and games, which are under the guidance of Mr L. J* Menzies and Misses Olliver and Borrie.

V :'.w ANNUAL'MEETING. The annual meeting of the Board was then held. ■ Mr Fitch was re-elected chairman although -he ' protested, stating that he had Held office for several ypars.. The estimates for the ensuing year showed that there would be a balance of about £IOO of income over expenditure. " - - RIFLE' MATCH.
