BOARD OF INQUIRY, By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 20. At the railway inquiry, Mr Connolly stated that the Society had agreed to withdraw the remit asking that where any guard or assistant guard was away from his home station, on duty, he should be booked off duty, with consequent loss of pay, but work should be provided for him. It had also been decided to withdraw a request that special Sunday duty under the regulations be defined. Mr Sterling intimated that tho Department was prepared to concede two hours instead of three hours standing time as requested, when a man was booked off for less than eight hours at his home station. The questions of broken shifts, tniio between shifts, standing time, add working hours were discussed.
