AMUSEMENTS.

FULLERS’. “Venus of the South Seas” again attracted a large audience at the Theatre Royal last evening, and tne famous under-water scenes made O.V Annette Kellerman were followed with the closest interest. The localises where the photoplay was taken nir elude Tekapo, Pelorous Sound, Island Bay (Wellington), and Christchurch. 'The photoplay and direction of the story is well up to the American and Continental standard. Assisting Miss Kellerman in the production are Messrs Robert JRamsay, Norman French,. ' Abel Howe, and Roland Purdie Included ,in the' programme is‘a gblf special by Gene Sarazen, an industrial, and '> Very ' interesting gazette, THE GRAND.

The romance of’ the Californian gold rush days is delightfully reproduced in “Ride For Your Life,” the Universal production featuring the popular Hoot Gibson at the Grand. In Lis latest picture, Gibson has the role oi a cowboy, who masquerades as a bandit in order to win the affection of his girl, who despised his former easy-go-ing style. The transformation works wonders, and his subsequent escapades as a gallant road agent, are not only thrilling to a high degree, but also very amusing. Laura La Plante sup ports the star, and adds .considerably to the inteiest of the picture. An “International News,” and a very laughable comedy, entitled “That’s Rich,” completes the programme.

CELLINI-ZACHAREWITSCH-GONCERTS. A notable musical season as far as Timaru is concerned, will open at tho Theatre Royal on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 24th and 25th, when three famous artists will provide the programme. Lenghi-Cellini will doubtless win popular favour here, as everywhere he appears. M. Michael Zacharewitsch, the famous' Polish violinist, is another star in this combination. ZacharewitselTs tone, technique, strength and tenderness, and inimitable sympathy are said to bo without comparison. Maestro Conte Pietro Cimara, completes the brilliant trio. He comes from tho Royal Court of Italy, where he is pianist, the Verdi Opera House at Trieste, where he is conductor, and his recent tours with Tetrazzini, with whom lie toured as solo pianist and accompanist.
