Last evening the West End Bowling Club tendered a farewell smoke concert to Mr J. S. Stringfellow, who is leaving Tiniaru shortly to take ip farming in the North Island. The president, Mr T. Currie, in presenting Mr Stringfellow with a gold-mounted fountain pen, said that the guest ot the evening had been a member of the West End Club for nearly three years, during which time lie had proved mi enthusiastic bowler and had given much encouragement- to new players. He wished Mr Stringfellow every success and prosperity in his new venture. Mr Stringfellow suitably replied. During the evening a number of vocal items were contributed, and-the following toasts were honoured: —“The Guest, ’ Mr R. F. Provan; “The South Canterbury Bowling Centre.” Mr R. (;.
