HUNTING.
MEET AT ROSEBROOK,
The South Canterbury hounds met at Rosebrook on Thursday last. Owing to cold weather scent was patchy, and short runs were the order of the dav. Hounds were, taken on to Mr J. McKeown’s property, where a hare was soon found, which took the field through several paddocks, then crossed the road, doubled Into Mr Kerr’s, and after passing through Mr Mattlngley’s property was killed in one of Mr Blymar’s paddocks. Another short run took the field through Messrs Dunnill’s and McKeown’s land, and was lost in a ploughed paddock. After lunch several small runs were had, puss escaping each time. Those following were:—The Master (Mr C. L. Orbell) on Across, Huntsman (J. Shaw) on Bedouin, Whip (F. Kerr) on Rookery, Mrs Reid on Alert, Miss B. Elworthy on Paddy, Miss M. Elworthy on Grafton, Miss C. Elworthy on Limestone, Miss E. Elworthy on Vexation, Miss B. Harper on Challenger, Miss L. Cartwr'ght on Giena, Miss Davis on Koffi, Miss M. Rolleston on Fleetwood, Miss S. Orbell on Dessert, Miss R. Brpsnahan on Tommy, Messis H. Elworthy on Royalty, R. Bassett on Wild Deer, H. Harper on Dardanella, Com. Steward on Mist, E. Butchers on Miss Auburn, W. Fielding on Captain, E. Malone on Purple Shield, McKinnon on uolden Grape, Gu> Rhodes on Trixie, and J. Karehana The next meet will be at Kenytown on Saturday.
