GENEROUS GIFT FROM MR E SPEECHLY.

There was a .largo attendance rf the public at the Geraldine Jh.sU'ict , High School on Thursday last to celt\ bra to the erection of open-air gymnastic appliances, which have been provided through the generosity ot Au 10 Speechlv, of Timaru, a termer resident of Geraldine. The appliances include a giant’s stride, half-a-dozen , swings, Roman rings, horizontal bars. , and a chute, all' of most substantial j construction. Among those present , were. —Mr Speedily, the chairman and j members of the School Committee, Hit j T Hughes (as representative ot flic .Education Hoard), and parents and friends _ Mr A. Eyfe. the chairman of Ihe committee, said they were present -to celebrate the erection of playing upfor which they had to tiuuik I Air Speechlv. Afternoon tea was provided by memhers of the committee, who were assisted by the school .staff.
