Tlte “Daily Chronicle” says that Captain Amundsen states he expects the ili-dit to the Dole will begin m the middle ol July, when most water is around pole, and end in the middle ol August. All three Dornicr “\Yhalo aeroplanes will be lilted with skis so as to be able to take oil lrom lantl, water, ice, or snow. The llight liom Pisa to Spitsbergen (2300 miles) will lie the acid test of the pilots and the material of the aeroplanes. The mothei ship of 400 tons is now being equipped at Tromso. She will be sent as ini north as the ice permits. Starting lrom the ship, Captain Amundsen proposes that the three aeroplanes, loaded to their full capacity, with gasolene, will fly 400 miles, when Captain Amundsen leaves the first plane, which gives As surplus fuel to till the tanks ,01 the other aeroplanes. The second and third aeroplanes will go on another 400 miles, when tho second will fill the tanks of the thud, which will enable Captain Amundsen to reach Alaska. The other two aeioplancs, meanwhile act as radio stations and keep the expedition in touch with the ship and Spitzbergen. _ Special messages describing Ainimd son's flight will be- despatched by wireless from the aeroplanes to the “Daily Chronicle.” During the flight, Lieutenant Davison (of American Navy) pilots the first plane. That contributed by Italy is being _ commanded by Lieutenant Locate]li, who accompanied d’Annunzio in his flight over Vienna during the war. Captain Haakon Hammer will be responsible for the search for the ships Annie and Ted civ in nnrtli-pnst Greenland.
