England, the weather was glorious, and the wicket recovering after a heavy rain. The attendance reached 12,000. England in the first innings have lost seven wickets for 398. Hobbs played a typically excellent chanceless innings. Hendren hit one five and six fours. Sutcliffe hit one six and six fours.
