A BIG SEA.
FINE SPECTACLE. A heavy- easterly sea was runniur into the roadstead throughout Satui” day and Sunday. The surf-wash reached somewhat higher yesterdav than the day before, and lapped over the high hump on the beaen near the Eastern mole. A number of bright pieces of tinware at that spot and along the beach southward suggested a rapid drift of suc-h easily moved objects. A lew blocks of rubble in the run of the surf indicated that the stones in the mole become insecure when shingle is lodged about them. Many people visited the mole yeste, day afternoon to see the big waves breaking on the structure and on the beach. The tide, however, had fallen, and" the display of force was not as great as it- had been earlier in the day. The billows were very uneven in height and volume, an odd one now and then’ being much heavier than the others. Dashing Rocks also presented an inspiring spectacle, the spray flying high above'the top of the cliffs. A good deal of sand has been scoured away from the western end of Caroline Bay. and at high tide yesterday morning the waves were washing over the lawns at ilinf noint. At .Jnek's Point the water reached the foot of the cliffs i" front of the Lighthouse, and near Tvingsdown the railway lino at, one noint was awash, although no cctnal damage was done.
