MINIATURE RIFLES
ST. PATRICK S CLUB. The weekly match was held last night, when Mr H. Travis’s trophy was competed for. Tho following members tied:—C. Knight, H. Travis, F. A. Bartos, J. McKec-fry, J. O’Keeffe, If. Fountaine. The previous week’s trophy was won by C. Clarke. The highest scores off the rifle were : F. R. Bartos and J. McKeefry 70, jtl. Travis and C. Knight 69, McGrath and J. Murphy 68, W. Stirling, C. Clarke, and L. Fountaine 67, V. Collins 66.
TIMARTT CLUB. The Timaru Club’s Monday and Thursday nights shoots were again well patronised, about forty members participating in the shooting. The veterans, J. Toneycliffe senr. and J. Newlands, are still to the fore, which should be an incentive to the younger members. The second stage of Captain Lewis a trophy was won by L. Smith, and tho previous week’s challenge medal fell to ]•’. Bartos. For last week F. Bartos and K. Berry tied with possibles. For the trophy presented by Mr. J. Hole, the following qualify for ilia first siage.—W. Fox, A. Allgland, J. Toneycliflo senr., E. Berry, J. Main, 1\ Bartos. The highest scores off the rifle for tho week were:—F. Bartos, J. Stevenson, E. Berrv 70: TV. Fox, TV. Day, \Y. Bradshaw', J. 'Murphy, J. Thomas, It. Seaman 69; L. Smith, C. Kvorit.t, T. Tut tv, J. Wain 68; TV. Rennie, F. Chittor.k, 1). Gillies, R. Rodgers, P. Fodcn, W. Donnithorne, J. Mason, G. Lamborn 07. As the “Herald” shield and “Hayhurst” shield competitions are close at hand, members arc asked to get in as much practice as possible.
