The Canadian Soccer team defeated Central Northern team at Tamworth by 8 goals to nil.

CAVE CUP COMPETITION,

j Saturday saw the second round ot : the Cave Cup competition finished. Further games can make no difference as to winch club will hold the trophy utnil another season, as the Rovers have won all matches played. .Both Thistle and Rangers are anxious to vin at least one game, and the last round will see three good 'contests. Rovers are to be congratulated on their win, as like other clubs, they have lost players since the season started. The game on Saturday last between Rangers and Thistle was the_ most spirited contest seen on Russell Square this sea,son. The teams were evenly matched, and neither side deserved to win. There was plenty of exciting incidents during the progress of the play, and more than one chance to score : went begging through weakness on the j part of the forwards. | Roundhij! in goal for Thistle, gave a ! good display, and is a much improved i player. The backs were steady, anti I McLennan is a tower of strength at I centre half. His play is not of the brilliant order, but his tactits are to he admired in attack. Parsons’s reappearance helped the forwards considerably, but his form is not up to last hcason’s standard. The Rangers were weak in attack, but Wallace sect ns to be playing up to representative form. CL Davies at centre half has not been the success he was in the left position. .Davidson played a -toady game, and O’Rorke, a newcomer to Timaru, gave a good deploy at inside right. With a lew more lonvaids of his typo the Rangers would shako things along in the Fraser Clip. 'The management committee are get ( ting busy in view of the Chinese tour, f and it is rumoured that the South Cantci bury team will not be chosen until the selectors have had a chance lo sec the Waunaie team in action. There were some good forwards in their team in previous seasons, and it is to j be hoped that some of their talent will | he available for the next representative team.
