Lord Harris, speaking at a banquet held in Manchester to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of the Lancashire County Cricket Club, asked what the counties were doing to see that the rules regarding qualifications were being observed. “I induced,” he said, “Kent to ask Marylebone to inquire into McDonald’s qualifications. The newspapers state that McDonald was in Australia last winter. Under the circumstances, I think Lancashire will welcome the opportunity to satisfy the public on the point.
