MART REPORTS.

UNIVERSAL MART. : Messrs Haynes, Oakey and Co. report tor fortnight ended Saturday last, as under: Produce. —Potatoes 14s and 15s per sack; King David apples 7s Gd, others 7s per case; fowl wheat 22s per sack; bacon (in rolls) Sd lb. Furniture and Sundries. —There has been quite'a keen demand for furniture, and a large quantity was disposed of privately at satisfactory prices. On Friday last we submitted a line of apples, patent medicines, matches and produce, followed by a line of drapery. There was a very large attendance, bidding was fairly keen, and practically a complete clearance was made at good prices. Clearing Sales.—On 29tli May we held a sale of household furnishings, bedding, linen and sundries, on account of Miss M. L. O'Eryan. The W'hole of these were disposed of readily at good prices, competition being keen. On Friday, 30th May, we held a furniture clearing sale in our mart, on account of Mr W. Burns. There was again a large attendance, and each lot offered found buyers at satisfactory prices. Property.—The property market is still fairly keen with a demand for good building sections. We are pleased to report several sales; generally speaking, however, the desire is to purchase on small deposits. THE RIALTO. 11. Allehurch and Co. report for th'e week ended June 7th: At our weekly, sale we had a good entry of both poultry and pigs, GO pens of poultry, 15 pigs of various degrees were yarded. Prices realised were as follows: Poultry.—Hens (heavy) 3s 3d to 4s 3d, others 2s to 3s, cockerels (heavy) 4s Gd to 7s Gd, others 2s 3d

to 4s, roosters 3s to ss, ducks 5s to Gs, all at per pair. A line of pullets realised 10s 3d per pair. Pigs.—Weaners Bs, 12s Gd, lGs Gd, and ISs each; slips 25s to 30s each. An inferior line of suckers realised 4s Gd each.

Produce.—Wheat 13s to 21s, poultry mash 2 ss, potatoes 13s to 15s, barley 14s, all at per sack. Bacon, rolls to lid per lb, hams Is to Is Id per lb.

Fruit.—Apples (dessert) Ss Gd to 12s, cookers 5s Gd to Ss Gd per case, walnuts Sd per lb. Eggs.—The supply of the Circle eggs is now increasing. Last week’s prices wore 2s 9d to 3s per dozen, but towards the end of the week they dropped to 2s Gd and 2s 2d.

Household Furniture.—On Friday at “The Rialto,” we disposed of a large quantity of household furniluro and effects. There was a good attendance, and a good clearance was effected.

Clearing Sale.—On 4th inst., wo held a clearing sale in estate of Mrs C. Murray (deceased). The whole of the furniture and effects were removed to our rooms for convenience of sale. There was a very large attendance of buyers, and bidding was keen, resulting in a total clearance being effected at satisfactory prices. Property Department. Table potatoes 10s to 11s sack a pig potatoes 4s, fowl wheat (broken) 15s to 18s, whole £1 2s, oatsheaf chaff 6s 6d to 7s, hay (clover) 5s 6d; bacon, hams lid to Is, rolls Is, flitches lOd to lid. Fruit.—Cooking apples 8s to 10s, dessert 8s Gd to 11s. W AIM ATE MARKET REPORT. . The Waimate Auction Co. report holding the weekly sale in the Mart on Saturday of furniture, pigs, poultry, etc. There was a small yarding of pigs, which were keenly competed for. Poultry was in good demand. The following were the ruling prices: stores 25s to 355. Poultry.—Old hens Is up, cockerels Is to Is 6d each, good laying liens Is to 2s each, ducks 4s pair, pullets (enquired for) 5s to 6s each.
