PHOTOGRAPHY.

V anous processes of color photography tvere outlined by the lecturer, who took as his first example that of the autochrome process, and described the materials used in the construction of a colour plate, and showed through the lantern a series of diagram slides illustrating a sectional view of these plates. The lecturer .demonstrated tlie action of light and colour on these plates, and explained tlie effect of such action and the result of the following chemical action of the developer. Mr Adamson said the great disadvantage of this and other processes was tlio fact that the picture was made on glass, and also, the impossibility of producing a duplicate as in ordinary photography. The Paget colour process was next explained, and compared with the* previous process. Yet another process of colour photography was dealt with, and this entailed the use ol three separate negatives on panchromatic plates, the fust being taken through a red colour screen, the next through a blue screen, and the last one through a green screen. The result of this process was quite a pleasing j picture, but the latest process of all, which is quite new to this country, was explained by Mr Adamson, who had just imported working details ot the “Eaydex” colour photography. Tho process is not unreasonably diflij cult or expensive. The manipulation is I precisely the same as the “earbro” i only that three prints are made, each i in a stated colour. After being placed on transparent temporary supports, * the colour images, are super imposed upon the final paper base in correct register, and the result is a very beautiful picture. M rAdamson passed round for inspection two perfect examples of the raydex process, which were greatly admired.

On conclusion of liis lecture, Ah' Adamson .was warmly thanked by the president (Air 'll. H. Kinghani), who Was supported by acclamation of the members present.
